How do I eliminate the smell of pet urine from a bed comforter?
I јυѕt hаd thе whole comforter set dry cleaned bυt I smell thе odor οf whаt I believe tο bе аѕ cat urine. Hοw dο I gеt rid οf іt?
It’s more lіkеlу tο bе dog urine.

Fire. Seriously. i don’t care what anyone says, once a cat has peed on something, you might was well toss it.
You need an enzyme cleaner. Nothing, NOTHING else will entirely remove the animal pee ITSELF from the fabric. Even though regular washing or dry-cleaning might remove the appearance of the stain, the organic matter remains in the fabric.
You can use an enzyme cleaner such as Nature’s Miracle (buy it at any pet store and follow the instructions EXACTLY). Some laundry detergents contain enzymes as well. The enzymes work by ‘eating’ the organic matter left behind from urine (feces, blood, vomit, etc.) even after regular cleaning.
Anyone with pets (or kids!) should have a big bottle of this stuff around.
yep im afraid its history,if it was mine thats what i would do. a neighbors cat come in one time and after using everything i had to clean it, i cut that section out and replaced it, wooohh that smell
You could try soaking it in warm water with baking soda or vinegar dissolved in it. My dog peed on my bed once and the smell was still in the sheets afterward. I soaked it in the bathtub with about half a thing of baking soda. The smell came out, and I was lucky enough to have one of those plastic mattress covers on my mattress.
sorry it really wont come out… Throw it away
If it can be washed, it needs to be. The responder who mentioned Natures Miracle was correct, it is great stuff that everyone who owns a pet needs, but it may not work since the comforter has been dry cleaned. Pour some on an inconspicuous area to make sure it doesn’t damage the comforter and if that turns out ok, saturate the comforter or at least the stained area with the product and let it sit for a few hours. There is a product called odoban that you can buy at Walmart that you can mix in with the wash that helps remove pet odors. Put the comforter in the washer with soap and some odoban and wash it. After natures miracle and odoban, if it still smells there is no hope, just throw it away.
My dog urinated on my grandsons brand new mattress a few years ago and everyone I called told me to just pitch the mattress, even professional cleaners told me I wouldn’t be able to get the smell out. It had to work at it for a couple of days, but with Natures Miracle and a steamer, I got the smell out. The discoloration never came out, but I just put a mattress pad on it and it is still in use.
