How to remove smell from a down comforter?
I machine washed a heavy down comforter according to label directions. After partially air-drying it, I put it in the dryer to get it completely dry. It now smells horible! How do I remove this odor ?

Smells like burnt feathers? Yikes. Maybe you can air it out outside. Let it get some sunshine. Then spray with Febreez.
if you’ve burnt the inside stuff you’re, well, stuffed!
you could try to rewash it with some vinegar in the final rinse and this time let it completely dry outside in the sunshine.
Hello,
I own a drycleaner and have dealt with problem many times. This is what I recommend:
If your down comforter smells horrible, rewash but add 1/2 C. baking soda to the detergent when the basin is filling with water, then add your comforter. That will nip the smell in the bud. We use baking soda in all of these situations! Its cheap and works great. I even noticed that Tide now has a detergent that has baking soda in it. You don’t need to buy Tide, just add your own baking soda to your own detergent!
When you’re drying the comforter, put a tennis ball or two in with it in the dryer. That will help keep the fluff up and help it dry quicker.
